Rollicking, thought-provoking, hilarious, profane, irreverent, loopy rock musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson stars Andrew Jackson, THE rock star of his day, and Nashville Repertory Theatre runs its production of the shrewd and dopey political satire from October 14 through November 4, at TPAC’s Johnson Theater.

Packed with anthems like “Populism, Yeah, Yeah”, it follows the story of Jackson through his campaigns to his taking office (where he finds that governing is hard). According to the New York Times in 2010, this musical manages to be “a goofy delight and a perversely affecting comment on the American temperament at the same time,” making the case that our relationship with our president is “always deeply and irrationally personal.” Let’s see if that resonates in 2017…

Thanks to the generous Nashville Rep folks, we’re sending a lucky East Nashvillian reader to the remaining performance of his or her choice, plus one.
