In partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Museum, OffBeat is giving away two free tickets to the Improvisations Gala on Saturday, December 4, from 7-11 pm. Featured acts will include George Porter Jr. & Runnin Pardners, Charmaine Neville Band, Bo Dollis & the Wild Magnolias, Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet, Gabrielle Cavassa Band, Jelani Bauman Band with Jesse McBride, Herlin Riley and Gregg Stafford, Mahmoud Chouki Band with Oscar Rossignoli and featured guest Detroit Brooks, a unique choreographed performance by the NOLA Chorus Girls, and more.
The event will also include a wide array of food and drink and a dazzling Sound Collage that will transform the historic architecture into a playground of light, art, and music with illuminated installations, digital sculptures, video-mapping projections, art animated by technology and musical performances. A highlight this year will be a spectacular, lighted 30-foot windmill in the Decatur Courtyard, presented in homage to the iconic Moulin Rouge nightclub in Paris. Improv attendees will also have access to the museum’s varied exhibits, including the premier of “Exit Stage Right: Zack Smith’s Festival Portraits” which opens on December 3.
The winner will be notified by email on Tuesday, November 30, after 5 p.m.
