Red Bull Street Kings is a showcase and competition celebrating the brass band traditions of New Orleans, merging the rich musical legacy of New Orleans Streets with its progressive hip-hop culture.
Four competing bands go head-to-head, and for the first time in the event’s history, one of the rounds will challenge each band to collaborate with a local hip hop artist. Each round is judged by a panel of leaders in New Orleans music and culture, who score the bands on stage appearance, material, energy, musicality, and innovation. The band left standing after three rounds of competition is crowned the winner and receives a grand prize.
The four competing brass bands are Kings of Brass, Big 6 Brass Band, Sporty’s, and Young Pinstripe Brass Band. Southern hip hop artists Treety, Alfred Banks, Stone Cold Jzzle, and $leazyEZ will also perform with the brass bands.
